The implant is then inserted and patted to keep it in place. Then it is stitched. The operation by itself might take up to half an hour or less. In many cases cheek implant is done along with a nose job or rhinoplasty. The surgery is done with the help of anesthesia.
The area where the cheek implant surgery has been done sometimes swells with mild bruising and pain. Medication is given as after surgery care and the doctor may advise a day or more of rest. The immediate precaution is to chew with restrictions for a few weeks or as the doctor may advise. Usually soft food is recommended for the patients. In case of infections medicines are prescribed. However, if the infection persists then the implant may have to be removed and replaced at a later date.
The long term effect of cheek implants is that it is permanent and gradually the face becomes more refined and has a better contour. Overall it gives an attractive lift for the face.
