How To Get Rid Of Split Ends And Keep Hair Lustrous

The key to having shiny, smooth and lustrous hair is to take
good care of it. This includes using only the best quality
products on your hair and getting rid of split ends. Split ends
are a sign of dry, damaged and unhealthy hair. They can be
prevented if you follow some simple techniques on a regular
basis.
First, you need to be able to identify what exactly a split end
is and if you have some in your hair. You can do this by
running your fingers through your hair right down to the bottom
of strands. Your hair will be split literally into two if you
have split ends. The more split ends you have, the more
unhealthy and damaged your hair is. Do not fret if you have a
head full of split ends. You can get rid of them and you can
prevent further damage to your hair. Let us explore how.
When brushing your hair, try to avoid brushing it when you are
fresh out of the shower and your hair is wet. You want to use a
wide-toothed comb instead for wet hair. Brushing too much can
also promote breakage so keep it at a minimum.
Conditioner is important in the prevention of split ends. You
want to use a special leave-in conditioner which you can find in
either in your grocery store or drugstore located in any
cosmetic products aisle. Once you have purchased this special
conditioner you want to apply it to your wet hair deep into the
roots and down to the strands. Let your hair soak it in. Do
not rinse out the conditioner. Then simply style your hair as
you normally would. This helps keep your hair healthy and
lustrous, but will also help prevent getting split ends.
Another way to get rid of those unwanted split ends is to trim
your hair. You can do this yourself or go to a hairdressers.
You will want to snip away at least 1 inch above the split end.
You will also want to set yourself up for a haircut at least
every 6 weeks to prevent future splits.
Want a more natural way to moisturize your hair and prevent
split ends? Try using avocados. Mash them up and apply to your
wet hair. Mayo works just as good. Leave either the avocado or
Mayo in your hair for 30 minutes and then wash with your
favorite shampoo.
Avoid washing your hair everyday. Alternate your days with one
day washing and conditioning your hair and the next day just
conditioning. Over washing your hair actually damages your hair
and dries it out. Also, by the natural oils from your scalp and
hair will act like a conditioning agent itself. When you wash
your hair, you are actually washing these beneficial oils away.
This is not to say to ignore your hair all week until it becomes
oily, instead you want to wash your hair every other day.
Hot oil treatments can be used once a month or even once a week
depending on which oil treatment you use. These treatments are
used to heal damaged hair and regain shine. You simply warm
these oils up in warm water and then apply directly on your
hair. Leave on for at least 5 to 10 minutes and rinse away.
You can also find these hot oil treatments in your local grocery
store or drugstore in any cosmetic products aisle.
Keeping your hair shiny, healthy and full of life can be fairly
simple by following some of the helpful tips above. Just
remember to get your hair trimmed at least every 6 weeks. This
is the most important thing you can do to keep your hair healthy
and split end free. The other tips can be used to help prevent
the split ends in the first place. Use these tips regularly.
Your hair will thank you for it.
