Tuck In That Tummy To Look Good

Many people nowadays undergo cosmetic surgery in order to change something of their body to look good and feel good inside and out. Though exercise and diet control can help you lose weight to a certain extent, many people go in for cosmetic surgery as a last resort. The most common cosmetic surgery is the tummy tuck or in medical terms, abdominoplasty. Taken from the root word, “abdomino” which means abdomen and “plasty” which means plastic surgery it is a procedure that makes the abdomen firm and smooth since many of us strive to have a smooth, firm and well-toned abdomen. Firming simply means that the excess fats and skin from the abdomen will be removed to tighten the fascia and the muscle of the abdominal wall.
The most common cause why people have abdomens that protrude, loosen and sag is due to pregnancy, weight fluctuations, heredity and aging.
There are 3 types of abdominoplasty. The Complete Abdominoplasty which involves an incision that is made from hip to hip just above the pubic area. The muscles will be exposed and the wall of the fascia will then be tightened. The other type is the Partial Abdominoplasty wherein a smaller incision is made and the skin as well as the fat from the lower abdomen is exposed, stretched down and the excess skin is removed. The last type is the Extended Abdominoplasty which is essentially a Complete Abdominoplasty plus an extension of the removal of the fats in the areas such as flanks and the thighs.
This weight loss, though it can lower your weight, it is not a substitute for the removal of stretch marks as well. Before deciding to go in for a tummy tuck or any other cosmetic procedure, you must first consult your doctor to understand the pros and cons of the procedure you are about to undergo so as to compare the benefits and the risks and decide the future course of action.
