Microdermabrasion: A good non-invasive procedure for tired and stressed skin.
Several weeks ago I tried Microdermabrasion for the first time. It’s a non-invasive procedure and is a great way of giving your skin an instant pick me up.
It’s basically like a high quality way of exfoliating and indeed the upper layers of skin are exfoliated with diamond chips. While they are exfoliated the dead skin cells are vacuumed away. I wasn’t sure what to expect but the treatment is pain free and reasonable relaxing. Also there is no down time so I was able to do it in my lunch hour which was handy.
Afterwards my skin was a tiny bit red and I could feel tiny diamond chips in my hair ( a bit like grains of sand) but none of this was at all noticeable to anyone but me. The reason I wanted to try microdermabrasion was because my skin was looking quite tired after several breakouts, and in fact it is recommended for full blown acne as well as for a general skin MOT. I did feel that my skin looked refreshed after I’d had it done and less congested so I was really pleased with the results.
Some people have use it for anti-aging too and when I am a few years older I may well do the same. The idea of peels and invasive surgery really doesn’t appeal to me and my skin is quite delicate so I think I would take a while to heel from such procedures, but microdermabrasion is a good alternative. I may well go back again in a while when i feel that I need a skin pick me up again.
The price of microdermabrasion can range from around £50-£70. I went to The Courthouse Clinic which charges £65 for one session. They do recommend a course of 4 to 10 depending on your skin, but for me having it done once in a while is good enough.
